Detailed project

NB: this form is filled entirely by the ones submitting the innovation.

What is the issue addressed?

The textile industry consumes 60 % of the production of polyester annually and the mix of polyester and cotton make garments and clothes almost impossible to recycle. Every second a truck full of clothing is sent to a landfill or incinerated. Samsara's technology allows for full recycling of textiles.

How is the problem solved?

Samsara is the first company that has developed a depolymerization process that allows cotton-polyester blends to be broken down into pure cotton, terephtalic acid and MEG allowing for 99.9 % reuse of components in the textiles and preventing them from ending up in landfills or incinerated.

What is the customer target?

Every textile and garment producer as well as facemasks producers. Also local authorities that have to deal with landfills full of discarded clothing.

How is this solution different?

The process is simpler, cleaner and enables full recovery of the elements in cotton-polyester.
